DETAILS:
Design can extend, reduce or enhance our sensory and emotional
capacities. Drawing on observations made in the sensory ethnography, Project 2
requires students to conduct three sensory experiments involving the activity
they observed. This will include changing the qualities of material objects or
contexts. By altering look, feel, taste, smell or sound the experiment must
attempt to produce one of the following moods:
-
Glamour
-
Austerity
-
Comfort
-
Routine
-
Rebellion
In a written rationale students must choose one experiment and
justify the changes they have made by relating their practices to wider social
and cultural ‘structures of feeling’.
